Montessori Student Attendance Tracker
Overview
This was a Spring 2026 Software Engineering course project, built by a team of six called Vector Hex. The Montessori Student Attendance Tracker is for a school day: parents and authorized adults check students in and out, and admins keep the records that make that possible.
Problem & Objectives
- Let a parent or authorized adult check a student in and out with a PIN or QR code.
- Give admins a place to manage student, adult, and attendance records.
- Include attendance reports so the day’s record can be reviewed.
Technical Implementation
The app is a React frontend built with Vite, talking to a Node.js and Express API written in JavaScript. Student, adult, and attendance records live in MySQL. Vitest covers the tests. The project also includes an OpenAPI spec and ERD and architecture diagrams.
My Contributions
I built two features end to end: backend, database, validation, UI, and tests.
- Admin-account creation, so a new admin can be added through the app.
- Adding an authorized adult and linking that adult to a student.
